My First Fan Fair
This was my first Fan Fair. I arrived in time to enjoy the softball game and what fun it was. Artist seemed more than happy to sign autographs and pose for pictures. It was hot in the stands but I guarantee it was much hotter on the field and the artists were great. Best show, (and I saw all but 2) was IFCO's Fun Fest at the Ryman Sunday night. Spectacular! Even got pictures afterwards with Charlie Daniels and Eric Heatherly. Now where else can you go and see such diversity in country music and it all be good? The announcer that evening was marvelous. I was fortunate to be backstage during Fan Fair and also go to Lynn Anderson's pool party. First time I'd ever seen a pool in the shape of a guitar. My hat is off to Lynn who makes an incredible salsa and a wonderful Sangria, not to mention being an incredible hostess. Eddie Raven contributed his own Jumbalia which was to die for. Thanks Lynn and Eddie for the pictures as well. It was made possible for me to attend the hard hat tour of the New Country Music Hall of Fame. Ford Motors made their $4 million contribution, followed by a lunch and a few songs by Marty Stuart. It concluded by Marty leading and all singing , "Will The Circle Be Unbroken." My last experience ended at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The privilege of seeing Charley Pride weep over the announcement of his induction into the Country Music Hall Of Fame was almost more than one could bare. Brenda Lee, you did an awesome job. I was amazed at the fans from all walks of life. The amount of handicap people braving the lines and heat, all for the sake of their love of country music. It was a true blessing to see the way the artists took time with each and every one of them. The way the legends, and up and coming legends, all were so patient and friendly. I have to mention Brad Paisley. What can you say about this artist that hasn't already been said? Truly devoted to his "country" music and his fans. To hear Lynn Anderson sing her new single and ask what we as the fans thought. I tell you, it was a memory making week in my life that I will never forget. Believe me folks, country music is alive and kicking. I'd hate to see anyone try to differ that fact to any of these dedicated and fun loving fans who numbered over 21,000. Special thanks to a dear friend that made all the backstage and media press available to me. You know who you are.
