| WHAT IS A SUPERSTAR? I suppose most people would say a Superstar is one who sells millions of records, plays to 30 or 40 thousand at a concert, never knows their fans, however, has received many awards. Not in my book!! In my opinion, a Superstar is one who has sustained in country music for 30 to 40 years; received awards along the way, still in demand for tour concerts, knows their fans well and is still visible in the country music community. Whispering Bill Anderson is just that, he is a SUPERSTAR! I’ve been associated with Bill for 24 years, 12 years as Michigan Representative for his fan club and 12 years as President of his fan club. Oh, you’re prejudiced, you say. You bet your life I’m prejudiced!! For along the way, I have seen it all!! I’ve heard artists talk rude to their fans, seen them signing autographs while ignoring the fan and I’ve seen them run away after a concert, as I said, "I’ve seen it all!" In 24 years I’ve witnessed Bill in good moods, so-so moods, and bad moods, however, I have never seen him mistreat or talk cross with a fan. Yes, Bill signs autographs after each and every show and, oft times, for two plus hours, longer than the concert he had just performed. He knows many, many of his fans by their first name, knows their kid’s names and even knows where they are from. In all these years, I’ve seen Bill with thousands of fans and when he is talking with a fan…….no matter if it’s for a short time or a long time, that fan has his complete attention. He not only says that his fans are special to him….his actions show that his fans are special to him! I’ve seen him go out of his way to visit with disabled fans. If they cannot come to him, he goes to where they are! Bill has earned my respect over the years, for after all, I didn’t have to stay around for 24 years!! And on a personal note, we have become good friends through the years….he is like the brother that I‘ve never had! Bill and I have had many laughs together and a few tears too.
