BOXCAR WILLIE

Back in 1989, my mom and I went to a country music show in Ohio, where I'm originally from. Boxcar Willie was the headliner, with Billy Walker and Del Reeves also on the show. Boxcar put on a fantastic show. He of course did his famous train whistle for the crowd and they loved it! He performed only traditional country music that he could do so well. He talked about his hero being Roy Acuff. Boxcar had the audience in the palm of his hand. After the first show was over, we went to meet him and get an autograph. My mom told him how much we had enjoyed the show. She told him that she would like to stay for the second show, but she wasn't able to afford it. That's when he said that we could get in FREE. My mom cried when he told her this. The second show was as great as the first! May God Bless Boxcar Willie; a gracious man who is sadly missed.
