" I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings..."

Many years ago, whilst sitting in the ROSE ROOM, crying in my beer and wondering why I wasn't being named Writer of The Year, it suddenly occured to me that the wheel that squeaks the loudest might soon get oiled. I had a box of 45rpm records in the van that my wife had recently cut...for germing purposes, ya know.... and decieded to drive over to CAPITOL NASHVILLE. It was 3a.m. Upon arriving at the label headquarters, I took 25 records out of the box and printed, "HELP!! WE're Hostages of The Music Buisness...Call 865-____! I then taped all 25 records to the windows of the building. As I was leaving the grounds, jumping over the WROUGHT IRON, SHARP fence, I cut a 7 inch gash in my inside thigh, which later required 22 stitches to close. Of course that was after Nashville's finest arrived, who told me if I was ever seen again on The Row, I'd go to jail. (I wasn't arrested cause the cop felt sorry for me, him being a songwriter himself) After being threatened with divorce by my wife for several hours after returning from Baptist Hospital, she calmed down, made me a nice lunch, and informed me that Capitol Records had indeed called a while ago, but said they didn't accept any OUTSIDE MATERIAL!!!!! A very true, but painful story!!
